++CHONG HUEY MIN++
this is your bee!!! =X
the earliest tour into the prison would be at 10am! we arrived at 9.20am and had to kill the time and just nice they had a museum showcasing their beauiful prision collections of stufs.
reminds me of my NS days!!
first into the prison, this is what i saw.
according to the guide, this mesh was put to prevent buckets, etc to fall from the top.
but the joke he made.
everything cannot go through but 1 thing u cannot prevent : what is inside the bucket!! (URINE!!!!)
in this particular prison, there was no toilets facilities in the cells itself and all were to pee inside their pails before when they were let out to pour them away!
the guide looks like a prison inmate but he was a former police prison warden officer man!! his retired job???the amount of people in th 10am group man!!!!
toilets are in the yard and are opened air with only 2 toilets to cater for 160 inmates at each time!
even till the prison closed in 1991, you could get sundries from the prison shops using prison money. you either work for it or bring in from the outside world. whua. got such things also man!
but quite cheap lar.. see the prices above.
tennis was one sport that inmates used to play and they have to use plastic rackets as they would use the real rackets as real weapons or perhaps take the string out and strangle people.!!!the pic aboves shows 2 plastic rackets above that was thrown up there due to a disagreement of the banning of tennis playing. it was a sport where they could swing the ball out and the ball would come in with drugs by someone outside!!! these are one prison cell block.
2 doors make 1 complete cell before it closed its doors!
hey.. there is even a chapel inside it ok!!!
and its still in use till today for wedding purposes!! woo hoo.. the pieces are so beautiful inside.
this organ is beautiful but it does not work! what a pity.
powerpoints can be found inside the cells too. and can even get televisions!! watch tv inside the cell. this is only for the priviliged!!!!
1 room for 2 inmates!
thats the pail for their urine!!
this was the actual size of the prison from 1870 - 1920s.. so small!!!
they even had taps!
this is for sick inmates!
crazy inmates have this too.. the bed, tables and all are bolted to the ground preventing them from doing silly things!!!
there used to be a western australian punishment smiliar to our singaporean canning!!
but this is not. whacking using a leather and a stick!!
have a last look of the world before being HANGED!
the final road to the end of the tour!
END OF TOUR!
this was the superintendent of freo prison's office.
